Reply: Marriage vows to serve and obey my husband

During the preparations for my marriage we had to go over the vows with our Priest.  He showed several different lists, with small variations.  My husband to be latched onto the 'serve and obey' vow.  It did not matter to me, doesn't he vow to protect and support me in the fashion I wish to be supported.  Serve him, who else makes the meals.  Obey, of course, isn't he the husband?  

My mother turned white.  My father asked if I understood what I was thinking?  My sister said NO. 

On my wedding day we went through the vows, Do you?  I do.  Until 'do you promise to serve and obey Tom?  I do.  Please repeat after me, "I promise to serve and obey my  husband".  Not a pin dropped, I repeated my vow, "I Amber promise to serve and obey my husband Tom".  People did not get out of their seat after the ceremony. 

In these many days of our marriage I have served his breakfast every day, and I am an obedient little bitch. If only he could get his retriever to obey.
