Reply: Making good on my parent's sacrifices

My family emigrated before I was born. They struggled in labor jobs and were not able to learn English.  I was born when my mother was 42. She was shamed of being pregnant at her age.  My parents sacrificed for me to go to Catholic school. I grew up in a quiet home, very poor.  But I received a good education. 

I managed a scholarship to a junior college, and in a work study program finished college.  My parents lived in a Communist country and I was raised to hate and distrust socialism.  I never made friends at school. 

In my first job, I was 22, a man worked there that had also lived under Communism. He took me under his wing. He told me one day that his wife and two children had been killed by the authorities as an example.  One day a few weeks later I went to him and offered myself to replace the children he lost. 

I became pregnant and I gave him his children back. My parents no longer live, but they would support my decision. I am his very young wife. People wonder about an old man and a young girl. My babies should answer their question.
